KraftMaid Bathroom Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide

KraftMaid bathroom remodeling in Austin typically runs $9,000 – $28,000 installed, depending on the cabinet line, vanity configuration, and whether you’re swapping just the cabinetry or redoing the surround too. Most KraftMaid vanity and cabinet replacements we handle are quoted within 48 hours and installed in 2 – 5 working days once the cabinets land. The usual discovery moment is an Austin homeowner opening a vanity door that no longer closes square, finding a swollen cabinet base near the toilet, or realizing the finish has gone cloudy from years of hard water and humidity.

We’re an independent Austin remodeling contractor that works with KraftMaid cabinetry on a regular basis. We are not affiliated with KraftMaid itself, but we know their product lines well enough to match hardware, doors, and drawer fronts without guessing. That matters when you’re trying to save a vanity that still has good bones.

Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

KraftMaid builds bathroom vanity cabinetry across three general tiers: the entry-level Vantage line, the mid-range Venia line, and the custom Vantage Pro / Beyond series with full-height doors and deeper cabinet boxes. The compatibility gotcha most Austin owners hit is door overhang: older KraftMaid vanities from before roughly 2015 used a 1/2-inch overlay hinge pattern, while current lines are mostly 1-1/4-inch full overlay. A replacement door ordered blind won’t sit right. We match hinge type, door width down to the 1/16 inch, and the exact finish code stamped inside the cabinet box before anything gets ordered.

For KraftMaid specifically, our default recommendation is OEM doors and drawer fronts if the vanity is less than ten years old. The finish codes still match factory stock, and the color stays consistent. For older vanities where KraftMaid has discontinued the finish, a quality aftermarket door from a local Austin millwork shop can get you 90% of the way there at about 60% of the cost, but you’ll notice the sheen difference in direct bathroom light. We walk every customer through that trade-off before a purchase order is cut.

Signs Your KraftMaid Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Doors won’t stay closed or hang crooked. Nearly always the hinge plate pulling out of the particleboard cabinet face. Austin’s humidity swings in spring and fall accelerate this, because the cabinet box breathes and the screw holes wallow out.
  • Drawer fronts separating from the drawer box. KraftMaid uses a two-piece construction on mid-tier lines, and the glue line fails after years of steam exposure. You’ll see a visible crack running along the top edge of the drawer front.
  • Cloudy or peeling finish near the sink or toilet. This is moisture ingress under the clear coat. Once it starts, it spreads. Touch-up kits mask it for a season, but the only real fix is a refinished or replaced door.
  • Soft, swollen cabinet base inside the vanity. The classic leak-behind-the-toilet or slow sink drain drip. The cabinet base is particleboard on most KraftMaid lines and doesn’t recover once it swells.
  • Cabinet sides bowing away from the wall or countertop. This is structural, not cosmetic. It usually means the vanity wasn’t shimmed and anchored correctly during the original install, and Austin’s clay-heavy soil settling doesn’t help.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A galley kitchen opened up to the dining room with a new peninsula

For Austin, a vanity replacement using new KraftMaid cabinetry runs about $800 – $3,000 for the vanity box itself, plus countertop and sink work on top of that. A full bathroom remodel where KraftMaid cabinetry meets new tile, a new shower base, and updated plumbing lands in the $9,000 – $28,000 range. What moves the number: whether you keep the existing plumbing rough-in location or move it, whether the floor tile runs under the vanity or stops at the toe kick, and which KraftMaid line you choose. We write a line-item price before any work starts, so you know what the cabinets cost versus labor versus the countertop. No change orders. The number we hand you is the number you pay.

Every KraftMaid vanity we install carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the cabinet doors sag, the drawer glides bind, or the finish shows a defect within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s in writing on every project.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check the hinge screws, look for the finish code stamped inside the cabinet box, and snap photos of the door overhang from straight-on. That’s genuinely useful and helps us quote faster. What you shouldn’t do is try to re-anchor drawer glides into swollen particleboard or re-hang a heavy mirrored medicine cabinet without knowing what’s behind the drywall. The first one shreds the cabinet box and turns a $300 repair into an $1,800 vanity replacement. The second one can drop a 40-pound mirror on a tile floor. If a vanity has gone structurally soft, it’s done. We’ll tell you straight and show you the number before we touch a single panel. Call (409) 834-4854 for a free estimate.
