Delta Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide
If you have a Delta fence product and a part has failed, we can match it, price it, and install it. Typical Delta fence installation in Austin runs $3,500 – $9,000 depending on linear footage, post depth, and whether we’re replacing panels, rails, or the entire run. Most owners discover the failure the hard way: a gate that drags, a post leaning after a storm, or a panel that pulls loose from the rail because the bracket sheared. Call us at (409) 834-4854 and we’ll tell you what you’re dealing with before we ever send a truck.
We’re an independent Austin contractor, not affiliated with Delta. That matters because we’ll tell you straight when an aftermarket bracket makes more sense than an OEM part, and when it doesn’t.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta fence products fall into a few broad lines: aluminum ornamental panels, steel post-and-rail systems, and vinyl privacy panels. The compatibility gotcha most Austin owners hit is the post diameter. Delta aluminum posts are typically 2″ or 2.5″ square, and the older 2000s-era vinyl lines used a 4″x4″ post sleeve with a 5″x5″ cap. If you try to slide a new panel into an older post or vice versa, it’s off by a half-inch and it will never sit right. We check the post before we order anything.
Look for a small foil label on the inside of a post cap or the backside of a bottom rail. It’ll have a series code that starts with “D” followed by four digits. If the label is gone, we measure the rail channel width and the picket spacing. That gets us to the right family nine times out of ten. On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question: Delta’s aluminum panels are generally worth matching OEM because the powder coat color, typically black or bronze, varies slightly across suppliers. Vinyl panels are more forgiving, and a quality aftermarket blank will cost 25 – 40% less with the same UV stabilizer package. We’ll quote both ways and let the price make sense to you.

Signs Your Delta Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drags or won’t latch. The hinge post has shifted, usually because the original installer set it in an undersized concrete collar. Austin’s clay soil expands and contracts through wet-dry cycles, and a 12″ footing will heave within a few years. We set posts at 24 – 30″ depth with a bell-bottom pour so the post stays put.
- Bottom rail pulls away from the post. The bracket screws have stripped or the rail bracket itself snapped. This is the most common Delta failure we see, especially on aluminum lines where the bracket is a cast piece that gets brittle with age.
- Wobbly panel between two solid posts. The U-channel at the top of the panel has lost its grip or the mid-rail was never through-bolted. In high wind areas like the Hill Country fringes of Austin, loose mid-rails fail fast.
- White chalk or powder on vinyl rails. The UV stabilizer has been consumed. Austin’s sun does this in 8 – 12 years. The panel is still structurally fine, but it’s losing material and will crack soon.
- Post leaning after a storm. Water got into the post through a cap that was never sealed, rotted the steel, or undermined the footing. If the post moves when you push on it, the fence is carrying load somewhere it wasn’t designed to.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Delta fence installation in Austin runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a typical residential run. Here’s the line item breakdown:
| Scope | Typical Austin Cost |
|---|---|
| Single gate rebuild (posts, hinges, latch) | $900 – $1,800 |
| Replace 5 – 10 aluminum panels, reuse posts | $2,200 – $4,500 |
| Full aluminum fence, 50 linear feet, new posts | $3,500 – $6,500 |
| Full vinyl privacy fence, 50 linear feet | $4,500 – $9,000 |
| Post replacement only (per post) | $250 – $450 |
What drives the range is post condition. If the posts are solid and only panels need work, you’re at the low end. If we’re digging out old concrete and setting new posts in clay, the labor hours climb. Our written price includes all parts, labor, haul-away of the old material, and the concrete for post settings. You get the price before we start, and that’s the price you pay. Every Delta fence job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something we installed fails within a year, we fix it. No phone tag, no “that’s not covered” runaround.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: Is the post set in concrete or just tamped dirt? Is the gate latch just out of alignment? Is the bottom rail bracket visible and obviously snapped? Those are diagnostic, and knowing that stuff helps you talk to any contractor without getting snowed.
Where DIY goes wrong is post setting. Under-digging in Austin clay means the post heaves in two years. Over-digging and dry-pouring concrete without belling the base means water pools around the post and rusts it from below. Getting the rail spacing right so the gate swings without dragging is another spot where we see owners burn a whole weekend and still call us Monday morning. If you’re re-skinning a sagging fence that has a bad post, you’re just dressing up the problem. Our crews are background-checked, uniformed, and you get a live arrival time before we show up. Measure twice, cut once – then we actually build the thing.
FAQs

A properly set Delta aluminum fence lasts 20 – 30 years in Austin; vinyl panels last 10 – 15 before UV degradation shows. The variables are drainage, sun exposure, and whether the original installer set posts deep enough. Aluminum holds up best here because it doesn’t rust and shrugs off the sun.
Yes, if the posts are solid, we can replace individual panels, brackets, and gate hardware without touching the rest of the fence. If more than 30% of the panels have failed or the posts are moving, replacement is usually cheaper per year of service. Call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll inspect the posts first – that decision drives everything.
A panel replacement on existing posts is typically a one-day job. A full fence with new posts takes two to four days depending on linear footage and how much concrete we’re pulling out. Austin’s rocky soil in parts of west Austin can add time to digging; we’ll tell you if your yard is in a rock pocket when we quote it.
We stock common aluminum brackets, post caps, gate hinges, and latch sets on the truck. Delta-specific aluminum panels and vinyl blanks are usually a 3 – 5 day order in Austin. We don’t make you chase parts. We handle the ordering, verify the series match before anything ships, and bring the right pieces the first time. Call (409) 834-4854 for an exact quote on your panel or post – estimates are free and the price you receive is the price you pay.
