CGI Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide
CGI fence installation in Austin typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 installed, depending on linear footage, post condition, and whether we’re replacing panels or setting new posts. We stock CGI-compatible hardware and panels on our trucks, so most Austin jobs are done in a single day once materials are confirmed. Most owners call us after a storm, a vehicle bump, or years of Texas sun have warped or cracked a panel beyond a simple fix. The telltale sign is usually a sagging gate or a panel that rattles loose in the wind.
Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI manufactures commercial and industrial-grade fence systems, but plenty of Austin homeowners end up with them on larger properties or ranch-style lots. The two lines we see most often in Austin are the CGI LOK series and the CGI heavy-duty commercial panel line. Both use a similar post-and-panel channel system, but the panel gauges and rib profiles differ enough that you can’t just swap a panel from one line into the other without it looking wrong or fitting loose.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha: CGI panels are not universally interchangeable across their own product lines. The LOK series uses a narrower channel width than the commercial line, so a panel that slides into one post system will bind in the other. Before you buy anything online, check the inside of the post channel for a stamped part number. If it’s worn off, measure the channel opening with a tape measure: 2-inch channels are typically commercial line, 1.5-inch channels are LOK series. Getting this wrong means a panel that won’t seat properly, and in Austin wind, a poorly seated panel becomes a sail.
On OEM versus aftermarket: CGI’s OEM panels are powder-coated to a specific thickness, and that coating matters in Texas heat. Aftermarket panels are cheaper upfront, but we’ve seen coating failures within two years on south-facing Austin fences. If the fence gets full afternoon sun, we recommend OEM or a top-tier aftermarket equivalent with a documented coating warranty.
A note to be clear: Sawyer Remodel Austin is an independent contractor. We are not affiliated with CGI, but we install and repair their fence systems regularly and stock compatible hardware.

Signs Your CGI Fence Installation Is Failing
- Panels rattling or humming in wind. This usually means the panel has shifted in the channel or the anti-rattle clips have failed. In Austin’s spring wind season, a loose panel gets worse fast and can tear the channel loose from the post.
- Gate dragging or hanging at an angle. On CGI systems, gate sag usually points to a failing hinge bracket or a post that’s started to lean. Tightening the hinge helps for a week; replacing the bracket is the real fix.
- Visible rust streaks below the panel edges. The coating has failed and the steel underneath is oxidizing. Austin’s humidity combined with our occasional ice storms accelerates this once the coating is breached.
- Post caps missing or posts filling with water. An open post top becomes a drain pipe during a Texas downpour. Standing water inside the post freezes in winter and expands, cracking the post at the base weld.
- Fence line waviness when you sight down it. One or more posts have shifted underground. This usually means the post was set too shallow or the concrete footer has failed due to our clay-heavy Austin soil expanding and contracting through drought and rain cycles.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

CGI fence installation in Austin sits in that $3,500 to $9,000 range for most residential jobs. At the low end, you’re looking at a short run under 100 linear feet with existing posts in good shape. At the high end, we’re pulling old posts, setting new ones in concrete, and running 200 or more linear feet of panels plus gates.
Every quote from us includes the panel or post cost, hardware, concrete, haul-away of the old material, and labor. No line gets hidden under “miscellaneous.” You’ll see the parts price and the labor price separated on the written estimate. If the job changes once we start digging and find something unexpected, we stop and bring you a new number before doing anything else. That’s how Luca runs every job.
Our workmanship warranty covers the installation for a full year under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s in writing, on every project.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check a few things safely before picking up the phone: sight down the fence line to see if posts are leaning, measure the channel width we mentioned earlier, and eyeball the coating for rust blooms. Those observations help us quote accurately over the phone.
What you should not do is attempt to pull a bent panel out of the channel on a loaded fence line. These panels are under tension from neighboring sections, and when a panel releases, it has weight and edge. We’ve seen fingers get split open. Same goes for digging next to posts without having lines marked by 811. It’s free, it’s fast, and it keeps a shovel from finding a gas line or buried cable.
If you can live with the fence as-is, take your time and get a written quote. If it’s leaning or the gate won’t latch, call us at (409) 834-4854 and we’ll get a technician out to look. Free estimates, no pressure.
FAQs

A properly installed CGI fence with intact coating lasts 15 to 20 years in Austin’s climate, though uncoated or aftermarket panels can fail in under a decade due to sun and humidity exposure.
Most bent or rusted CGI panels cannot be straightened to look right, so replacement is the standard fix; minor coating chips can be touched up, but structural bends mean a new panel. Call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll tell you straight which one you’re dealing with.
Most CGI fence installations in Austin are completed in one to two days once materials and posts are confirmed, depending on the linear footage and how many old posts need to be pulled and re-set.
We stock common CGI-compatible panels, post caps, hinge brackets, and anti-rattle hardware on our trucks, but specific CGI LOK versus commercial line panels may need a short material run; we’ll verify compatibility before ordering.
No, the written price is the price, unless we uncover something hidden like a failed concrete footer or a buried utility that requires a change in scope; we stop and get your approval on a new written number before doing any extra work. Call (409) 834-4854 for a free estimate.
