Jerith Kitchen Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide

If you’ve got a Jerith kitchen component that’s failed or is on its way out, the installed replacement cost in Austin typically runs $14,000 – $45,000 depending on scope, and we stock compatible hardware on our trucks for same-week installs in most cases. Most owners discover the problem the hard way: a cabinet face pulls loose from its hinge, a drawer slide binds and throws the box off square, or a countertop seam separates after a few Texas summers. We’re Sawyer Remodel Austin, an independent contractor, not affiliated with Jerith, but we’ve matched and replaced enough Jerith kitchen components across Bouldin Creek, Barton Hills, and Mueller that we know exactly what fails and what it takes to fix it right.

Which Jerith Models This Applies To

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

Jerith kitchens span a few distinct lines, and the compatibility details matter. The most common installations we see in Austin homes are the Jerith Essentials series (flat-panel fronts, concealed hinges, standard 35mm cup boring) and the Jerith Estate series (inset doors, soft-close hardware, dado-joined boxes). The gotcha: Essentials and Estate drawer slides are not interchangeable. Essentials uses a 3/4-extension epoxy-coated slide; Estate uses a full-extension undermount with a different mounting clip. If you order the wrong slide, the drawer won’t sit flush and you’ll chew up the box side.

How to identify what you have: open a drawer and look for a sticker on the inside of the drawer box. Jerith puts a model code there, usually starting with “J-” followed by four digits. No sticker? Measure the drawer side thickness. Essentials boxes are 1/2-inch; Estate boxes are 5/8-inch. That’s the fast tell. For cabinet doors, check the hinge cup diameter: 35mm is standard on both lines, but the hinge arm differs. We stock OEM Jerith hinges and quality aftermarket equivalents (Blum, Salice) that match the overlay. For most homeowners, the aftermarket Blum hinge is the better value: same function, lower price, and Blum’s soft-close mechanism outlasts the original by years.

Signs Your Jerith Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Drawer opens with a hitch or drops when pulled. The slide’s ball bearings are shot, or the mounting clip pulled out of the box side. In Austin’s humidity swings, particleboard boxes swell and the clip’s grip loosens over time.
  • Cabinet door won’t stay closed or sags at the corner. The hinge spring is worn, or the cup drilled into the door face has wallowed out. A door that sags 1/8 inch looks small but means the hinge is carrying load it wasn’t designed for.
  • Countertop seam is opening or discoloring near the sink. Water’s been getting in. Jerith’s laminate tops are decent, but a seam that’s seen five or six Austin summers will start to lift at the edge.
  • Soft-close door slams instead of catching. The damper’s blown its seal. You can replace the damper alone on the Estate series; on Essentials, the whole hinge gets swapped.
  • Cabinet box is pulling away from the wall or the floor. This is the one that can’t wait. Mounting screws have failed or the box was never shimmed properly. The cabinet’s structural, not cosmetic, at that point.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A galley kitchen opened up to the dining room with a new peninsula

For a Jerith kitchen component replacement in Austin, here’s where the price lands:

  • Single drawer slide replacement: $80 – $220 installed, parts and labor
  • Cabinet hinge replacement (per door): $60 – $180 installed
  • Full soft-close retro-fit (all doors and drawers): $1,200 – $3,400 depending on cabinet count
  • Countertop seam repair or re-laminate: $400 – $1,800
  • Full kitchen remodel (tear-out and install): $14,000 – $45,000

What drives the range: cabinet count, accessibility (corner cabinets fight back), and whether you want OEM Jerith parts or aftermarket. We write the price before we start, and the number on the invoice is the number you approved. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the install: if it’s not right, we make it right. Parts themselves carry their manufacturer warranty.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. You can swap a hinge on a Jerith door yourself in about 15 minutes if you have a Phillips driver and the right hinge. Same with a drawer slide, assuming the clip holes line up. But if your cabinet box has pulled from the wall, if the countertop seam has water damage under it, or if the drawer slide ripped the screws clean out of the box side, call us. We’re not saying that to scare you. We’re saying it because we’ve fixed enough good-intentioned DIY jobs in Austin to know when the math doesn’t work. If you’re not sure which category you’re in, call (409) 834-4854 and describe what you’re seeing. Luca’s got a good ear for what’s a 20-minute fix and what needs a truck.
