Jerith Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide
Most Jerith fence installations in Austin run between $3,500 and $9,000 depending on linear footage, post condition, and whether we’re doing a full replacement or sectional repair. We stock Jerith-compatible aluminum fence panels, posts, and gate hardware, and our crew can typically diagnose and quote the same day. The way owners usually find us is simple: a gate suddenly drags on the concrete, a post leans after the last storm, or the latch stops catching because the hinge bearings are worn out.
Jerith fences are common in established Austin neighborhoods like Bouldin Creek, Bryker Woods, and Crestview, where aluminum fences have been standing for 15 to 25 years. The fence itself rarely fails all at once. What fails first is usually the hardware: hinge bearings, gate springs, latch assemblies, and the post sleeves where they meet the concrete. That’s where we spend most of our Jerith work.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith manufactures aluminum fencing under several product lines, and the parts are not always interchangeable across them. The main residential lines we work on in Austin include the Veranda, Liberty, Estate, and Regal series. Each has slightly different picket spacing, rail dimensions, and post wall thickness, which matters when you’re ordering a replacement section or repairing a gate. If you have your original quote or install paperwork, the model name is usually printed on it. No paperwork? Check the inside of the post cap or the bottom rail for a manufacturer sticker. If that’s gone, we can identify the series by measuring the picket width and the rail profile.
One compatibility gotcha owners hit often: early 2000s Jerith posts use a narrower post sleeve than current production, so a new post cap from the hardware store will not seat correctly. We keep both old-style and current-style caps on hand. For most jobs, we use OEM Jerith parts when the fence is still under warranty or when matching an exact section blends with existing panels. For out-of-production series, we use quality aftermarket aluminum extrusions that match the profile, and we tell you upfront which one we’re quoting. Sawyer Remodel Austin is an independent service provider, not a Jerith dealer or affiliate.

Signs Your Jerith Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate dragging or scraping. The most common call we get. It’s usually the hinge bearings wearing inside the post hinge bracket, not the gate frame bending. The gate slowly drops a quarter inch at a time until it catches the driveway or sidewalk.
- Post leaning away from the gate. This usually means the post footer under the concrete has cracked or the post sleeve has worked loose. We see it most after spring storms when clay soil in east Austin expands and contracts hard against the post footing.
- Latch that won’t stay closed. The spring inside the latch assembly loses tension over time, or the strike plate has been adjusted so many times it’s out of position. Replacing the latch rather than shimming it again is the fix that lasts.
- Rattling or loose rails. Jerith rails slide into punched holes in the posts. Over time, the punched tabs can fatigue, especially on gates that get slammed. The rail moves inside the post and the whole section sounds loose.
- White powder or pitting at the base of the posts. Austin’s hard water and alkaline soil accelerate electrolytic corrosion on aluminum when the post’s powder coat is scratched at installation. It starts as cosmetic pitting but eventually weakens the post wall.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Austin homes, a Jerith fence installation or major repair typically runs $3,500 to $9,000. At the low end of that range, you’re looking at a single gate replacement with new posts and hardware, or a short sectional repair. At the high end, it’s a full perimeter replacement with 60 to 90 linear feet of new panels, new posts, a double drive gate, and hardware. The biggest cost driver is linear footage, followed by gate count and whether the existing post footers need to be removed and re-poured.
Every quote we write includes the panels, posts, caps, hardware, concrete, haul-away of the old fence, and labor. No surprise line items at the end. We use the written-price rule on every job: the number on the quote is the number on the invoice. And like all Sawyer Remodel work, the Jerith fence installation carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a gate drops or a post shifts in the first year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things an owner can safely check before calling anyone. Confirm whether the gate scrapes only when it’s hot out, since aluminum expands in Austin’s 100-degree afternoons and can make a dragging gate worse. Check whether the latch problem is the spring or just a misaligned strike plate. You can tighten rail screws and clean debris out of the gate track without special tools.
What goes wrong with DIY on Jerith fences is usually the post work. Removing and replacing a post footer means breaking concrete, digging a proper footing, and setting the post plumb while the concrete cures. Do it wrong and the gate swings under its own weight, the post moves again in six months, or you compromise the fence’s wind resistance. Aluminum fence panels are light, but a sagging gate and a post that won’t hold are structural problems, not hardware problems. If that’s where you are, call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll give you a real number, not a guess.
FAQs

A properly installed Jerith fence in Austin typically lasts 20 to 30 years, with gate hardware needing replacement every 7 to 12 years depending on use and sun exposure. The panel sections themselves hold up well, but hinges, latches, and post sleeves wear faster here because of heat and hard water.
If the post sleeve is intact and the concrete footer is solid, we can often replace the post insert and hardware without pulling the whole footer. But if the post is leaning more than a few degrees or the sleeve is cracked, replacing it is the only fix that holds. We’ll tell you which one applies before we quote it.
Most single-gate replacements and sectional repairs are done in one day. Full perimeter installations with multiple gates typically take two to three days depending on rain and how much old concrete we’re removing. You get a schedule up front and photo updates as we work.
We keep common latches, hinges, post caps, and springs on our trucks. For full panel replacements or less common series, we order OEM or matched aftermarket parts, which usually arrive in three to five business days. Call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll confirm what’s on hand for your specific model.
