Jerith Driveway & Pavers: The Austin Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Jerith-compatible driveway gates, paver systems, and the hardware that holds them together across Austin, with most replacement parts running $150 – $850 installed depending on what failed. If your Jerith gate is dragging, sagging, or the pavers around the posts are shifting after our Texas clay does its seasonal swell-and-shrink routine, we can usually match the part same week. Most owners discover the failure the same way: the gate starts scraping the driveway, or a paver pops loose right where the post meets the ground.
For the record, Sawyer Remodel Austin is an independent contractor. We’re not affiliated with Jerith, but we’ve installed and repaired enough of their products in Bouldin Creek, Hyde Park, and Westlake to know which parts fail and which ones just need adjustment. We also stock compatible components for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone jobs, but Jerith driveway work is its own animal.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith Manufacturing makes aluminum and steel residential driveway gates under a few distinct lines: the Estate series, the Monarch series, and their ornamental aluminum Regal line, plus matching pedestrian gates and fence panels that tie into paver driveways. The part you need depends on which line you have, and that’s where most Austin homeowners hit a wall trying to order online.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha: Jerith changed their hinge boss spacing on the Estate series around 2019. Pre-2019 Estate gates use a 4-inch bolt pattern on the hinge side; newer ones use 3-1/2 inches. Order a hinge kit off a parts diagram and you’ll get the wrong one if you don’t measure first. Flip your gate open and measure center-to-center on the hinge screws. If it’s 4 inches, tell us that when you call, and we’ll bring the right kit on the first trip.
For OEM versus aftermarket: Jerith’s own replacement parts are solid aluminum or powder-coated steel and will last 10 – 15 years in Austin’s sun. Quality aftermarket equivalents from suppliers like National Hardware run 15 – 20% cheaper and perform fine on most non-structural parts like latch plates and drop rods. But for load-bearing hinges and the gate’s bottom rail, we recommend OEM spec. The aftermarket castings don’t hold up to a 300-pound gate swinging in Texas wind.

Signs Your Jerith Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Gate drags or scrapes the driveway on the latch side. Usually a worn hinge bushing or a post that’s leaning out of plumb. Austin’s clay soil expands in spring and contracts hard in August, and over five years that movement slowly walks the post off its footing.
- Pavers around the gate posts are lifting or cracking. The post footing was poured too shallow, or the paver base wasn’t compacted under the post. We see this constantly in neighborhoods built on blackland prairie clay, where 4 inches of base simply isn’t enough.
- Gate sags and won’t latch without lifting the handle. The aluminum bottom rail has fatigued, or the hinge screws have wallowed out their holes in the post. Jerith gates are light for their size, but once the bottom rail flexes, the latch geometry is off by half an inch and nothing lines up.
- Latch sticks or spins without engaging. The internal spring in a Jerith Magna-Latch or equivalent has rusted or the strike plate shifted. Austin’s humidity plus our hard water irrigation spray accelerates that corrosion faster than you’d expect.
- Paver joints are washing out after every rain. The polymeric sand between pavers is shot, or the edge restraint failed. Once water gets under the paver bed, freeze-thaw isn’t the issue here like up north; it’s the clay expanding that heaves everything out of level.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Jerith gate parts specifically, you’re looking at $150 – $450 for hinge kits, latch assemblies, and drop rods installed. A full bottom rail replacement or post reset runs $500 – $850. If the pavers around the gate need to be pulled, the base re-compacted, and the pavers re-laid, that’s $700 – $2,200 depending on square footage, which falls under our paver driveway repair pricing of $7,000 – $18,000 when the whole driveway needs redoing.
What drives the range is the paver base condition under the gate posts. If the footing is cracked or the base has settled, we’re not just swapping a hinge; we’re digging out, adding crushed limestone, compacting in lifts, and re-setting the post so the repair lasts. Every quote we write in Austin includes parts and labor in one number, and it’s fixed before we start. That’s the written price guarantee on every Sawyer Remodel job, and the number you approve is the number on the invoice.
All Jerith part replacements carry our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the gate sags again or the pavers shift within a year, we come back and fix it. No argument, no second invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
Gate hardware on a Jerith is mostly low-risk to inspect. You can check the hinge screws for looseness, watch the gate’s arc while it swings, and mark paver movement with a pencil. Tightening a loose latch screw is fine. But anything involving the gate’s weight, the post, or paver re-leveling is where DIY goes sideways in Austin.
Gates under tension can drop hard if you unbolt the wrong hinge first. A 300-pound aluminum gate falling off its post will take a finger off or dent a car hood. Paver work looks simple from YouTube, but pulling pavers and re-compacting against a shifting clay base without the right plate tamper and edge restraint means it’ll shift again in six months. Luca Romano has seen enough homeowner “fixes” in Bouldin Creek that ended up costing double to undo. If it involves the post or the paver base, call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll get it right the first time.
FAQs

Jerith aluminum gate frames typically last 15 – 20 years in Austin’s climate, while the powder coating starts showing sun fade around year 8 if the gate faces west. Paver driveways on properly compacted base last 20 – 25 years, but Texas clay movement means you’ll need joint sand reapplication every 2 – 3 years. Call (409) 834-4854 if your gate is over 10 years old and showing sag; early hinge replacement is cheaper than a full gate rebuild.
Yes, in about half the cases. Worn hinge bushings can sometimes be swapped without replacing the entire hinge assembly, and paver settlement can often be corrected by re-leveling the affected area rather than redoing the base. We’ll give you the straight answer on repair versus replacement with a written price either way. Call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll assess what you actually need.
A hinge or latch replacement on a Jerith gate takes 1 – 2 hours on site, provided the post is solid. Post resets or paver base repair around the gate typically run a full day. We’ll tell you the timeline before we start, and you’ll get photo updates while the work is underway. Call (409) 834-4854 to schedule a look at your gate.
We carry the most common Jerith hinge kits, Magna-Latch assemblies, drop rods, and adjustable gate corners on our trucks. Odd-size or pre-2019 Estate parts may need a 2 – 3 day order from the supplier, and we’ll confirm availability before we schedule. Call (409) 834-4854 with your gate’s measurements and we’ll tell you over the phone what we have on hand.
