Cambridge Pavers Fence Installation: The Austin Owner’s Guide

Cambridge Pavers fence installation in Austin typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete perimeter fence using their stone and paver column systems, with most jobs finished in two to four days depending on linear footage and access. We stock Cambridge-compatible fence columns, caps, and wall block on our trucks for the most common Austin installs, which means we can usually start within a week of your free estimate. The call usually starts the same way: a homeowner notices a leaning column, a cracked cap letting water into the block, or a paver base that’s started to sink after a heavy Central Texas rain.

Which Cambridge Pavers Models This Applies To

Cambridge makes a few distinct fence column and wall systems, and they’re not all interchangeable. The most common lines we install in Austin are the Ledgestone, Pisa, and Maytrx wall columns, paired with either their Coventry or RoundTable paver styles for the fence base and walkway returns. Each series uses a different face profile and depth, so a Ledgestone column cap won’t seat correctly on a Pisa column. The quickest way to identify what you have is to check the underside of a cap or the back of a block for the Cambridge mold stamp, or measure the block depth: Ledgestone runs about 3.5 inches deep, Pisa runs 4 inches, and Maytrx runs 6. If you’ve lost the stamp and the cap is cracked anyway, save the broken pieces; our crew can match it from the profile before we order anything.

OEM Cambridge caps and columns are a known quantity and worth the premium if you’re replacing a single failed column on an otherwise matching fence. If you’re redoing the whole run and the fence is 15 years old, quality aftermarket wall block from a Texas supplier can cut material cost 20 to 30 percent while matching the Cambridge profile closely enough that nobody notices unless they’re on their hands and knees. We’ll show you both options with real numbers before you commit.

Signs Your Cambridge Pavers Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Column leaning or pulling away from the wall run. In Austin’s clay soil, this almost always means the column’s footing was poured too shallow for the freeze-thaw and wet-dry cycle. A properly set Cambridge column on a residential fence needs at least an 18-inch footing below grade, and a lot of original installs stopped at 12.
  • Cracked or spalled caps. Water pools on the flat cap surface, absorbs into the concrete, and then a hard Austin freeze pops the top layer. Once a cap cracks, water moves down into the block and the problem accelerates.
  • Fence base sinking or gaps opening between pavers. This points to a failing paver base under the fence line, usually decomposed granite or sand that was never compacted in lifts. We see it most on fences built on the clay-heavy lots east of I-35.
  • White crust or mineral staining on block faces. Efflorescence like this means water is moving through the column and evaporating out the face. It’s not structural by itself, but it tells you the cap and joint seal have already failed and structural damage is next.
  • Gates dragging or not latching. If the fence posts on either side of a gate have settled unevenly, the latch miss is the visible symptom. The actual cause is under the gate post, not in the hinge.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

For a Cambridge Pavers fence installation or rebuild in Austin, you’re looking at $3,500 on the low end for a short run under 40 linear feet with one column and a simple cap replacement, up to $9,000 for a full perimeter fence with three or more columns, new paver base, caps, and gate work. The four things that move the number are linear footage, how many columns are coming out, whether your existing base is salvageable, and access to the fence line from the street.

Our written quote includes the block and caps, paver base material, concrete for footings, haul-away of the old material, and labor. You’ll see the line items before we start, not after. And every Cambridge fence install we do carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a column shifts, a cap cracks, or a gate stops latching within a year, we come back and fix it without charging you a second visit fee. That’s in writing.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: run a level across your caps to confirm which column is out of plumb, look for water staining on the block faces, and clear any dirt piled against the base that’s trapping moisture. What you shouldn’t do is start pulling caps and rebuilding columns yourself. These columns are heavy, and once you open one up, you’ve got to know how to rebuild the block on a correct footing, re-thread any electrical or low-voltage wire that runs through the column, and re-seat the cap so water sheds properly. Get it wrong and you’ve bought yourself the same repair again in two years. Luca Romano has been setting this kind of masonry in Texas long enough to spot a failed footing before the demo starts. Call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll come look, give you a written number, and tell you straight whether it’s a repair or a rebuild.
