Dvele Kitchen Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide
If you own a Dvele home in Austin and the kitchen has reached the point where cabinet hinges sag, drawer slides grind, or the countertop shows wear that no amount of sealing hides, a full kitchen remodel typically runs $14,000 – $45,000 installed, depending on scope, finishes, and how much of the original Dvele cabinetry and hardware you want to keep or replace. Most Dvele owners we work with discover the need the hard way: a soft-close mechanism finally gives out, a drawer front warps from Texas humidity, or the laminate edge on a counter begins to peel and suddenly the whole room feels tired at once. We stock Dvele-compatible replacement parts, match finishes to the original spec, and handle the entire remodel from demo to final walkthrough with a written price before we ever pick up a tool.
One thing to be clear about up front: Sawyer Remodel Austin is an independent remodeling contractor. We are not affiliated with Dvele, and we don’t claim to be. What we do is know how these homes are put together, where the original kitchen components tend to fail first in Central Texas, and how to replace them without creating a patchwork look that screams “aftermarket fix.” If you’re in Bouldin Creek, Travis Heights, Mueller, or anywhere else in the Austin metro, give us a call at (409) 834-4854 for a free estimate.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele builds high-performance homes with a strong focus on energy efficiency and healthy indoor air quality, and their kitchens follow a consistent parts language across most of their model lines, especially the earlier Dvele IQ and newer modular platform homes that have gone up in Austin’s east and south side neighborhoods over the past several years. The original kitchen package in most Dvele homes uses frameless European-style cabinetry, soft-close Blum or Blum-compatible hardware, and quartz or solid-surface countertops sourced through Dvele’s own supply chain rather than a big-box retailer. That’s the first gotcha: the cabinet box dimensions and hinge boring patterns don’t always line up with off-the-shelf parts from a home center, which is why so many Dvele owners end up with mismatched doors or hinges that never quite close right after a DIY fix.
Before you order anything, check the inside of a cabinet door or the underside of a drawer box for the manufacturer label. Most Dvele kitchens we see use a 3/4-inch thick cabinet box with 35mm cup hinges and a 110-degree opening, but we’ve also found a handful of Austin homes where the original spec called for 155-degree hinges on corner cabinets. Measuring the hinge cup diameter and the door overlay thickness takes five minutes and saves you from buying a full set of hardware that won’t sit flush. On the countertop side, Dvele has specified both quartz and solid-surface material over the years, and the edge profile and thickness (usually 3cm on newer builds, 2cm with a laminated edge on some earlier models) matters when you’re replacing just one section rather than the whole run.

Signs Your Dvele Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Soft-close doors that slam or drift open. The damper inside a Blum-style hinge wears out, and when it does, the door loses its controlled close. We see this most often on high-use cabinets under the sink and next to the dishwasher, where heat and moisture do a number on the internal seals.
- Drawer slides that catch or make a scraping sound. Undermount slides collect fine dust from Austin’s dry summers, and once the ball bearings lose their grease, the drawer starts to stick and stutter. A worn slide is a cheap fix, but ignoring it for a year can chew up the drawer box itself.
- Peeling or bubbling edge banding on drawer fronts and door panels. Central Texas swings between dry heat and humid spells, and Dvele’s original cabinetry, like most, uses PVC edge banding that expands and contracts at a different rate than the cabinet core. Once the adhesive fails, moisture gets in and the delamination accelerates.
- Quartz or solid-surface counter that has dulled, chipped, or cracked near the sink. The area around an under-mount sink takes the most abuse: dropped pots, standing water, and thermal shock from a hot pan straight off the cooktop. Hairline cracks near the sink cutout are the most common failure we see on Dvele quartz in Austin homes built before 2020.
- Cabinet boxes that have shifted or pulled away from the wall. This one is less about the parts and more about the install. Some Dvele homes we’ve opened up in Austin have cabinets anchored with drywall screws rather than cabinet screws into studs, and over time the boxes creep and the doors stop lining up. It’s a fixable problem, but it means pulling the run and re-anchoring it properly.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A Dvele kitchen remodel in Austin lands between $14,000 and $45,000, and the spread comes down to three things: how much of the original kitchen you keep, what material tier you choose for the new work, and whether the floor plan changes. On the lower end of that range, expect a refresh that keeps the existing layout and cabinet boxes, replaces doors, drawer fronts, soft-close hardware, and countertop surfaces, and adds a new backsplash. On the upper end, you’re talking a full gut: new cabinet boxes built to the same frameless European spec, new island, new plumbing fixtures, new lighting, and maybe moving an appliance or two. Countertop installation alone runs $2,000 – $6,500 in Austin depending on the material and square footage; backsplash installation adds $800 – $2,500; and a new kitchen island runs $3,000 – $10,000 installed.
Every quote from Sawyer Remodel Austin includes the full parts list, labor, and haul-away of the old materials in one written price before any work starts. If we say a number, that’s the number on the invoice. We don’t do change orders unless you change the scope. And every Dvele kitchen remodel we complete carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if something we installed isn’t right within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a soft-close hinge or a drawer slide that’s still in decent shape is a reasonable weekend project if you have the right parts and a screwdriver that fits the hardware. What we caution against is trying to fix delaminating edge banding with heat guns and contact cement, or attempting to cut and seam a quartz countertop section yourself. Quartz is unforgiving; a bad cut means a ruined slab and a bigger bill than the original repair. Same goes for cabinet boxes that have pulled from the wall: if you don’t know what’s behind the drywall, you’re guessing, and guessing is how a $400 repair becomes a $4,000 one.
If you’d rather have it done once and done right, call us at (409) 834-4854 for a free Dvele kitchen estimate in Austin. We’ll look at what’s failing, tell you straight what needs replacing and what can be saved, and hand you a written price before any work begins. FAQs

Plan on 12 to 18 years for the original Dvele cabinetry in Austin before the soft-close hardware, edge banding, and drawer slides start showing real fatigue, and about 15 to 25 years for quartz or solid-surface countertops depending on how much heat and direct sun exposure they’ve taken near windows on the south and west sides of the house. Texas humidity swings are hard on laminates and edge banding specifically, so kitchen components here often fail faster than the same parts in a drier climate. Call (409) 834-4854 if you want an on-site assessment of what’s at the end of its life versus what has another five years in it.
Yes, in many cases the fix is targeted: a worn soft-close hinge, a dragging drawer slide, or a delaminating edge band on two or three doors can be repaired without touching the rest of the kitchen, typically for a few hundred dollars rather than the full $14,000 – $45,000 remodel range. The line to watch is when multiple components are failing at once or the cabinet boxes themselves have shifted, at which point you’re paying for piecemeal fixes that won’t stop the aging process. We’ll always give you a repair quote first if we think it buys you real years. Call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll take a look.
Most Dvele kitchen remodels we do in Austin run two to six weeks from demo to final walkthrough, with the tightest timelines on refreshes that keep the existing cabinet boxes and the longest on full gut-outs that involve moving plumbing or electrical. We give you a schedule in writing before we start, send before-and-after photo updates as the job progresses, and our crew shows up when we say they will under The Relay Visibility Guarantee. Want a timeline for your specific kitchen? Call (409) 834-4854 for a free estimate.
We carry the most common Dvele-spec replacement parts on our trucks, including 35mm soft-close Blum-style hinges, undermount drawer slides, and touch-up matched edge banding, and we order the rest directly from name-brand suppliers including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone rather than gambling on off-brand equivalents that won’t match the original finish. For Dvele kitchens, the OEM-versus-aftermarket call usually comes down to what’s still in production and what’s been discontinued, and we’ll tell you honestly which direction saves you money without looking like a patch job. Give us a call at (409) 834-4854 and we’ll sort through the parts list with you.
