Sterling Kitchen Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide

Kitchen remodeling in Austin typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet layout, countertop material, and how much plumbing or electrical has to move. We stock and install Sterling-compatible plumbing and fixture components, and we also work with KraftMaid cabinets, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler fixtures for full kitchen gut-outs.

Most homeowners call us because a single part failed: a Sterling sink clip snapped, a faucet cartridge started dripping, or the mounting hardware under a Sterling undermount sink loosened in the Texas heat. One failing part is rarely the whole story. We look at what is behind the failure so you are not paying for the same repair twice.

Which Sterling Models This Applies To

Sterling is best known in Austin kitchens for its kitchen sinks, faucets, and plumbing fittings rather than full cabinet lines. The compatibility issue we see most often: Sterling sink basin dimensions. A Sterling undermount sink with a 22-inch basin needs a specific cabinet opening, and if you are replacing an old sink with a slightly different radius corner, the countertop fabricator has to adjust the cut.

Check the stamped model number on the underside of the sink bowl or the inside of the faucet spout base. Sterling uses a model format like SSK10-22 or 6110. If the label is gone, measure the basin left-to-right and front-to-back. That gets us to the right replacement or the right aftermarket equivalent in about five minutes.

We are an independent service provider, not affiliated with Sterling. That works in your favor: we stock the parts that fail most often on our trucks and we will tell you plainly when a quality aftermarket part matches or beats the OEM spec.

Signs Your Sterling Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Water pooling under the sink cabinet. This is usually a failed S-clip or mounting bracket under a Sterling undermount sink. The seal separates at one corner, slow drip starts, and the cabinet floor soaks before you notice. We see it all over Bouldin Creek homes with original 10-to-15-year-old sink installs.
  • Faucet drips after shutoff. The cartridge in a Sterling pull-down faucet wears out from Austin’s hard water mineral buildup. Replacing just the cartridge is a $50 fix; replacing the whole faucet runs $300 and up. We check the cartridge first.
  • Low water pressure only at the kitchen tap. The aerator screen or the diverter inside the spray head is clogged with scale. Some Sterling faucets have a one-piece spray head that can’t be cleaned; if the screen is press-fit, replacement is the only fix.
  • Sink basin flexes or creaks. The adhesive bond between the sink rim and the countertop has failed. In Texas, the heat cycles in uninsulated cabinets break down mastic faster than in cooler climates. If it flexes enough, it separates fully and the sink drops.
  • Corrosion at the drain collar. Austin’s hard water plus a cheap aftermarket drain assembly equals rust spots within five years. Sterling’s original drain collars hold up better, but when a homeowner swapped in an off-brand drain a decade ago, we find this on retiling jobs.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A small remodeled galley kitchen with cabinets to the ceiling

If the problem is a single Sterling part, you are looking at $150 to $700 parts-and-labor for a sink clip repair, cartridge swap, or new drain assembly. If the failed part has caused water damage to the cabinet or the countertop needs to be cut for a different sink, the job becomes a partial remodel, and Austin pricing climbs into the $14,000 to $45,000 range.

What drives the spread: whether we are keeping your existing cabinets and countertops, what countertop material you choose, whether plumbing lines need to move, and whether the cabinet box itself has to be rebuilt. Our written price covers parts, labor, and the specific scope we agree on before we start. No change orders, no surprise line items on the invoice.

Every repair or remodel gets the same written guarantee: if it is not done right, we make it right, backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check a few things safely. Tighten the mounting clips if you can reach them with a stubby screwdriver. Look for standing water or soft spots under the cabinet. Test whether the faucet drip happens on hot, cold, or both.

Beyond that, call us. Cutting out a failed undermount sink without damaging the countertop takes a specific feel, and if you crack the stone edge you are into a new countertop. Same with pulling a faucet from below inside a tight cabinet: one slipped basin wrench and you have a supply line spraying inside the wall. As Luca Romano has told more than a few Austin homeowners: measure twice, cut once, then we actually build the thing. Call (409) 834-4854 and we will look at what you have.
