Tamko Kitchen Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide

Tamko kitchen remodeling in Austin typically runs $14,000 – $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet count, countertop material, and whether we’re pulling permits for wall changes or a full gut. We stock Tamko-compatible cabinet hardware, hinges, drawer slides, and trim pieces on our trucks, so most hardware-level fixes happen same-day. Most Austin homeowners find us after a drawer front sags, a soft-close hinge gives out, or a laminate edge peels back on a Tamko cabinet door and they need to know if it’s a $40 part or a $4,000 cabinet replacement. Luca Romano and our crew work on Tamko kitchens throughout Bouldin Creek, Mueller, and Allandale, so we know exactly which Tamko series have parts that actually cross-reference and which ones don’t.

Sawyer Remodel Austin is an independent contractor. We’re not affiliated with Tamko, but we’ve been installing and repairing their kitchen lines across Austin for years, and we stock the parts that actually fail.

Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko’s kitchen cabinet lines include the Estate, Heritage, and Builder series, and the compatibility difference matters more than homeowners expect. Estate-series doors use 35mm cup hinges with a specific mounting plate offset; Heritage uses the same cup size but a different clip pattern; Builder-series cabinets from 2016 and earlier often shipped with plastic bracket slides that are no longer manufactured. If your cabinet door has a sticker inside the frame with a date code, that’s the fastest way to match hardware. If the sticker’s gone, we identify the door by measuring the cup depth and hinge arm offset, then match to a current Blum or Grass equivalent rather than chasing obsolete Tamko part numbers that cost triple for the same function.

Here’s the gotcha most Austin owners hit: Tamko’s soft-close dampers are series-specific, not universal. A damper clipped to a Heritage hinge won’t seat correctly on an Estate hinge even though both are “Tamko soft-close.” We keep the three common damper bodies on the truck so we’re not making two trips. For countertops, Tamko partners with multiple fabricators in the Austin market, which means “Tamko quartz” in a 2019 kitchen is not necessarily the same slab brand as “Tamko quartz” in a 2023 build. We take a sample before ordering any replacement countertop section.

Signs Your Tamko Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Drawer front sags or sits crooked. The undermount slide brackets have loosened or a plastic roller cracked. We see this most on Austin homes with big temperature swings between rooms, which cause wood expansion cycles that work screws loose over time.
  • Soft-close stops working on one door but not others. The damper has failed internally, not the hinge. Swap the damper from a working door to the failing one and close it slow; if the problem follows the damper, it’s a $12 fix, not a door replacement.
  • Cabinet door laminate is peeling at the bottom edge. Water or steam exposure is the usual culprit, especially around the sink base and dishwasher return. Once the substrate starts swelling, a repair usually means a new door, which is why we recommend addressing it the first week it shows.
  • Hinges feel gritty or make a grinding sound. Dried-out lubricant with dust worked into the pivot points. Cleaning and re-lubing can buy a year or two, but if the hinge pins show wear, replacement is cheaper than a door that eventually droops and chips the cabinet frame.
  • Shelving clips keep popping out. The clip holes in the cabinet sides have wallowed out from overload or repeated adjustments. We can drill and sleeve the holes with a metal bushing, which holds better than the original plastic expansion collar and costs a fraction of replacing the cabinet box.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A walk-in pantry with wood shelving

Full Tamko kitchen remodels in Austin land between $14,000 and $45,000. A smaller kitchen with refaced cabinets and mid-range quartz runs $9,000 – $20,000. Cabinet installation alone runs $4,000 – $13,000, countertops $2,000 – $6,500, backsplash $800 – $2,500, and a kitchen island $3,000 – $10,000. Parts-level work is far less: hinge replacements run $15 – $40 per hinge installed, drawer slide swaps $60 – $120 per drawer, and full hardware replacement across a 20-door kitchen lands between $800 and $2,000.

Every quote we write is a fixed, written price before work starts. That includes the parts, the labor, and the disposal of the old hardware. If we open a cabinet and find hidden damage, you’ll see a new line-item price and approve it in writing before we touch it. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every hardware replacement and cabinet install we do for a full year.

DIY or Call Us?

Cabinet hardware is one of the safer projects to take on yourself, so here’s the straight split. You can safely adjust hinge screws, tighten drawer slide brackets, and swap a failed soft-close damper if you know your series and have a Phillips head and a level. Where Austin homeowners get in trouble is with hinge arm replacements on full-overlay doors, drawer slide alignment on older Builder-series cabinets where the plastic brackets have degraded, and any laminate repair that involves heat and adhesive on a finished door face. One wrong press with a clothes iron and a $40 repair becomes a $300 door order. If you’re facing the laminate or a bracket failure, call us at (409) 834-4854 and one of our techs will give you a straight answer and a written price on the first visit.
