Toto Bathroom Remodeling: The Austin Owner’s Guide
A full Toto bathroom remodel in Austin runs $9,000 to $28,000, and that range covers everything from a tub-to-shower conversion with a Toto toilet swap to a complete gut-and-rebuild with new fixtures, tile, and cabinetry. Most Austin homeowners reach out when a Toto part fails mid-project or a remodel stalls because the original contractor couldn’t source the right Toto components. The good news: we stock common Toto parts on our trucks, and we can match almost any Toto model to the right component same week.
Here’s what usually happens. You’re already planning the remodel, or you’re living with a Toto toilet or bidet that’s been acting up. A fill valve gives out. The flush tower won’t seal. A skirted toilet needs a specific mounting kit and the big-box store shelf is empty. You call around and three contractors say they’ll “figure it out.” We tell you the part number, the price, and when we can have it installed. That’s the difference.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto doesn’t make one toilet or one bidet. They make dozens of lines, and each uses slightly different internals. The Drake and Drake II use a 3-inch flush valve and a fill valve that’s been updated several times over the years. The Ultramax and Ultramax II use the same flush tower but different trapway specs. The Neorest series, which is Toto’s integrated washlet line, shares almost no internal parts with the gravity-flush toilets. Washlet seats themselves, like the C5, K300, or the newer S7A, have their own filter cartridges, nozzles, and deodorizer cartridges that need replacing on a schedule, not just when they fail.
Here’s the gotcha most people hit: Toto part numbers are stamped on the underside of the tank lid, on the inside wall of the tank, or on a sticker under the bowl rim. But on skirted toilets, the mounting components and the flush mechanism are often specific to a production year, not just a model name. A Drake from 2012 and a Drake from 2022 share a bowl shape but not necessarily the same fill valve or flapper. OEM parts are the safest bet for critical seals and valves, and we recommend them by default. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist for basic items like supply lines, wax rings, and tank-to-bowl gaskets. For anything that sits inside the Toto flush system, we install OEM. It costs a bit more and it’s worth it. Sawyer Remodel Austin is an independent remodeling contractor, not a Toto dealer or affiliated with Toto, but we spec and install their parts every week.

Signs Your Toto Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- The toilet runs for 20 seconds after every flush. That’s the fill valve or the flush tower seal wearing out. Austin’s hard water accelerates mineral buildup on the seal, which is why we see this more in Travis County than in softer-water markets.
- Water seeps at the base of a skirted toilet. The mounting plate gasket has failed, or the toilet was never set correctly. On skirted Toto models, you can’t just see the wax ring like you can on a standard toilet, so the leak hides longer.
- The Washlet seat stops heating or the wand misfires. That’s usually the inlet filter or a mineral-clogged nozzle. Austin water quality plays a role here too. The deodorizer cartridge may also need replacing about every six months.
- The flush is weak or incomplete. A flapper or flush tower isn’t lifting fully, or the jet holes under the rim are clogged. On Toto’s Tornado Flush models, the rim jet pattern matters more than most people realize.
- You’re planning a remodel and the existing Toto won’t sit right on new flooring. This is more about the install than the part. A thicker tile floor changes the flange height, and Toto skirted toilets don’t forgive that the way older designs do. You may need a flange extension or a specific Toto mounting kit.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

When the Toto work is part of a larger bathroom remodel, the $9,000 to $28,000 Austin range is your planning number. A small bathroom remodel, which often means swapping in a new Toto toilet, a vanity, and a basic shower refresh, runs $5,000 to $12,000. If the Toto component is the main event, say you need a new Washlet seat installed with electrical run to the toilet location, or a skirted toilet replaced on a finished floor, you’re looking at a few hundred dollars in parts plus same-day labor. We price the part separately from the labor so you see exactly what each line item costs before we start.
Here’s the breakdown for common Toto-related work in Austin:
- Toto toilet replacement (parts + labor): $600 to $2,500 depending on the model and whether the old toilet needs disposal.
- Washlet seat upgrade (wiring included): $800 to $3,000 for the seat, install, and a dedicated GFCI circuit if one isn’t already there.
- Internal rebuild (fill valve, flush tower, gaskets): $180 to $400, including the OEM parts.
- Flange repair or replacement on concrete slab (common in Austin newer builds): $300 to $800 if the flange is cracked or sitting too low.
Every quote includes a written price before we touch a tool. The invoice matches the price you approved. If the repair fails within one year, our 365-Day Done Right Promise means we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s not a verbal promise. It’s written into the quote.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a fill valve on a Toto Drake is a 20-minute job if you’ve done it before. Replacing a skirted toilet mounting plate on tile, running a new circuit for a Washlet, or diagnosing a slow leak inside a wall is not a weekend project. Toilets and water supply lines can cause serious water damage when the connection isn’t seated right. If you’re not certain about the flange height, the seal, or the electrical work, call a licensed plumber or electrician rather than guessing.
Luca Romano says it best: “Measure twice, cut once, then we actually build the thing.” If you’re tired of the running toilet, the leak, or the remodel that’s been half-finished since spring, call (409) 834-4854. We’ll tell you what part you need, what it costs, and when we can get there.
FAQs

A Toto toilet bowl and tank will last 20 to 30 years, but the internal components like fill valves, flush towers, and gaskets typically need replacing every 5 to 8 years in Austin because of hard water mineral buildup. Washlet seats last 10 to 15 years with regular filter changes. Call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll help you figure out if you’re looking at a quick rebuild or a full replacement.
Yes, in most cases the internal parts can be replaced individually without pulling the toilet, and that’s almost always cheaper than a full swap. The exception is a cracked bowl or a skirted base that’s warped. Call (409) 834-4854 for a free estimate and we’ll tell you which path makes sense for your model.
A standard toilet replacement takes about two hours, and a Washlet installation with new electrical takes a half day. A full Toto bathroom remodel runs one to three weeks depending on tile work and fixture availability. Call (409) 834-4854 for a timeline specific to your project.
We keep common Toto fill valves, flush towers, gaskets, and supply lines on our service trucks, plus compatible parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone surfaces for the surrounding remodel. Less common items like specific Washlet filters or skirted mounting kits we order from Toto’s supply chain and usually have them within a few days. Call (409) 834-4854 and we’ll check availability for your exact model.
