Meet the Austin Team Behind Sawyer Remodel Austin
We’re a Austin-based remodeling crew that’s been swinging hammers in this city since 2005. Most of our team grew up here, went to school here, and still grumble about Mopac traffic like everyone else. What unites us is simple: we show up when we say we will, we price the job before we start it, and we don’t leave until the work is actually done right. No corporate layers, no mystery subcontractors. Just a tight group of tradespeople who know Austin homes, Austin soil, Austin code, and the particular ways this city’s heat and humidity stress a house.

Our People

Luca Romano, Owner & Lead Remodeler
Luca founded Sawyer Remodel Austin in 2005 after spending his early years in the trade doing framing and finish carpentry. He’s the person who answers the phone on Saturdays and the one who walks your project before anyone else touches a wall. Luca holds a state general contractor license and has personally overseen hundreds of bathroom and whole-home remodels across Austin, from Crestview bungalows to Steiner Ranch builds. He’s known on job sites for two things: reading a tape measure like it’s his first language and refusing to let a change order exist without a written price attached first. If something is going to be a hassle, you’ll hear it from him before it becomes your surprise.
Mateo R., Senior Installer
Mateo has been with Sawyer Remodel Austin for over a decade, which in remodel years is roughly a century. He specializes in full bathroom tear-outs and rebuilds, with particular depth in waterproofing systems and tile layout. Schluter certified, Mateo is the guy who makes sure your shower pan actually slopes toward the drain and your Kerdi seams are sealed so the only water leaving that bathroom is the water you meant to use. He’s the team’s resident perfectionist about grout lines, and he once spent an extra afternoon redoing a hex tile layout that was off by an eighth of an inch because, in his words, “someone has to look at it every day, and that someone is you.” Mateo lives in Pflugerville and plays in a Tejano band on weekends.
Danielle W., Service Coordinator
Danielle is the voice on the other end of (409) 834-4854 when you call to ask about pricing, timing, or what the heck a curbless shower actually entails. She’s been coordinating remodels in Austin for nine years and keeps the whole operation from becoming a pile of misplaced tile samples and missed emails. Danielle built our scheduling and update system, which means when you get a photo update of your framing going up at 2:14 on a Wednesday, that’s her making sure you’re not left wondering what happened on your job that day. She’s a stickler for the written price promise and will tell you flat out if a fixture you want is six weeks out so you can decide before you’re locked in, not after. Outside of work she’s restoring a 1960s ranch in Round Rock, slowly, which she says keeps her honest about what our clients go through.
Andre B., Apprentice
Andre joined us two years ago after finishing a carpentry program at Austin Community College, and he’s the pair of younger eyes that catches the small things before they become big things. He works under Mateo on most bathroom installs and has developed a real aptitude for finish trim and cabinet installation. Andre is background-checked, uniformed, and shows up with the rest of the crew with his tools organized and his phone put away. He’s originally from East Austin and claims he can tell what decade a house was built in just by looking at the stud spacing, a skill that is genuinely useful when we open up a wall in Hyde Park and find surprises from four different remodels. He’s also the designated coffee runner and has strong opinions about breakfast tacos.
One Standard, Every Job
Every project we run in Austin operates under The Relay Visibility Guarantee. That means a written price in your hands before any work begins. Live arrival time tracking so you know when our team pulls up. Photo updates before and after each phase so you’re never guessing what happened at your house today. And a 365-Day Done Right Promise that says if something wasn’t done right, we come back and make it right within a year of project close, in writing, on every single job. Luca built this company so a remodel doesn’t feel like a gamble. The crew backs that up on every jobsite. You’ll know who is walking into your home, when they’ll arrive, and what it costs before the first tool comes off the truck. That’s not an upgrade. That’s just how we work.
